Iran agriculture minister arrives in Rome to attend FAO conference

Summary: Iranian Minister of Agriculture Mahmoud Hojjati arrived in Rome on Tuesday to attend the 32nd UN Food and Agriculture Organization?s Regional Conference for the Near East which kicked off in the Italian capital on Monday.
During the Conference Hojjati will introduce Iran?s capacities in agricultural sector and encourage European countries, Italy in particular, to invest in the country?s agriculture and food industries. 

He is also to prepare the ground for boosting of Iran?s export of its agricultural products to Italy. 

Hojjati has plans to meet with FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva and a number of his counterparts from member states on the sidelines of the Conference. 

The minister of agriculture is scheduled to visit Bologna in northern Italy tomorrow (Wednesday) to visit two Italian unions active in seed production and manufacturing agricultural machinery. 

During the FAO Conference which will continue its work until February 28, important regional issues, the situation of food and agriculture, shortage of water, family farming and the role of women and ways to reduce wastage of food and agricultural products will be discussed.
