Summary:Iran Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani says the Islamic Republics principled stance is based on the annihilation of weapons of mass destruction and nuclear bombs in the world.
"In its nuclear energy program, the Islamic Republic of Iran seeks the use of various economic, therapeutic and peaceful aspects of nuclear energy," Larijani said in a meeting with the Speaker of the Kenya Senate, Ekwee David Ethuro, in Tehran on Sunday.
He pointed to the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation with African countries and said considering the high capacities of both sides, Iran and Kenya can begin a new era of friendly relations.
Larijani also highlighted the importance of exchanging parliamentary delegations and establishing Iran-Kenya Parliamentary Friendship Group to bolster bilateral cooperation in all sectors.
The Kenyan Senate speaker, who is in Tehran on an official five-day visit, urged enhanced trade and bilateral economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of oil, mines and agriculture.
Ethuro stated that terrorist groups are a main issue of concern and a major threat to the security of African countries, adding that Kenya welcomes cooperation with other states to counter terrorism.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has always attached great significance to expanding relations with African countries as one of its main policies.
