An Israeli army commander has said that the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah is the eighth greatest missile power in the world and Israel will definitely be unable to withstand the rain of missiles from Hezbollah in any potential war with the group in the future, the Al-Alam network reported on Saturday.
The Israeli army commander made the remarks during a military conference in the city of Herzliya, which is located north of Tel Aviv.
The military commander said that any future war with Hezbollah must be on the ground because “Israel could not tolerate Hezbollah’s huge missile capabilities for days or weeks.”
The commander is reportedly in charge of devising plans for waging war on Lebanon and supervising the military units that are being trained for any possible conflict with Hezbollah.
In 2010, reports in the media cited sources in the Pentagon confirming Hezbollah’s missile capability. In a report published in Veterans Today in November 2010, Franklin Lamb quoted a 22-year Pentagon veteran as saying, “Hezbollah is being dubbed by some at the Pentagon as now the 8th greatest missile power in the world.”
