Rohani made the remarks during a meeting with a number of Friday prayers leaders in Tehran on Tuesday.
“The West should be aware that they will achieve nothing through threatening and exerting pressure on the Iranian nation, but if they speak in the language of logic, respect, and common interests and on an equal footing, (the Iranian) government is completely ready to speak in the language of prudence in negotiations with them,” he stated.
In addition, he said that the first round of nuclear talks between Iran and world powers after he took office as Iranian president may be held on the sidelines of the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this month.
Iran to send humanitarian aid for Syrian people
Commenting on the Syrian crisis, the president said that Iran attaches high importance to its relations with Syria because the Arab country is in the resistance bloc.
“We are making efforts so that no war begins… and that if a war breaks out, it will have minimal cost and the enemy will quickly regret its action,” he said in reference to a possible military action against Syria by the United States over the alleged use of chemical weapons by Syrian government forces against insurgents.
He also said that he has ordered the relevant officials to make arrangements for sending humanitarian aid for the Syrian people.
